As a part of the JEEViKA Technical Support Program; PCI and Gram Vaani (a pilot of OnionDev) conceptualized and implemented an IVR-based intervention called ‘JEEViKA Mobile Vaani (JMV)’. The venture has an aim to improve health and nutrition (HN) outcomes of the rural community through its engagement in the state of Bihar and presently covers 15 blocks of Nalanda and 5 blocks of Muzaffarpur districts. JMV has been instrumental in accelerating the pace and sustainability of behavior change in health and nutrition in 6 blocks of Nalanda district under JTSP by incorporating a voice-media communication platform – a) JMV created additional touchpoint leveraging mobile phone availability among target populations b) Increased touchpoints – IVR as additional medium and JMV facilitates increased frequency of personal connect. In its pilot phase, JMV successfully reached out to more than 50,000 users leveraging penetration of mobile phones in rural Bihar to sensitize the community on HN issues. JMV has equally been useful in informing and sensitizing the SHGs on COVID-19, Lymphatic Filaria (LF) and Acute Encephalitis/ Encephalopathy syndrome (AES).
